Welcome to Kelly, Monica, Allison, and Kirsten's theatre history project blog. Last week we were all assigned groups and picked our topics in a drawing reminiscent of the hunger games our group drew the topic of Ancient Roman Spectacle. From here our task was to narrow down the topics to a more reasonable focus.
What our group has come up with since is how the mechanics of spectacle worked; the use of bread and circuses as a distraction, and how these things compare to gladiatorial events and plays. Each of us will narrow down our research using these guidelines during the coming weeks.

The First Assignment asks you to address five questions. I'm pasting them below and, in parentheses, commenting on whether or not you've addressed them sufficiently:
ReplyDelete1. What specific time period do you plan to research? (You aren't currently doing this.)
2. What artist(s) and/or work(s) do you plan to focus on specifically? (You are starting to narrow down the focus to include bread and circus and gladiatorial events, but those are both pretty broad. Once you have a specific time period you can probably develop a more precise topic)
3. What social and/or political events are happening at the time you are investigating? (You aren't currently answering this.)
4. Briefly describe how you reached consensus on the scope of your group project. (You don't address this at all.)
5. What materials did you consult to help you make your decision (you must cite these sources using the correct MLA citation format and begin to create a bibliography that you will eventually annotate) (You're aren't doing this at all)
You're current grade is 15% If you can fill in the gaps by the end of Monday's class, then I'll change your grade.
